Sawadee krub! I’m Weerayut Sarawan, but you can call me Katoon. Born and raised in Chiang Rai, my love for adventure started in the mountains where I spent my childhood playing football and exploring nature. At 13, my journey took a unique turn when I became a novice monk—a decision that shaped my life with discipline, mindfulness, and a deep connection to Buddhism and Thai culture . I pursued my education in Buddhist schools, earning a Master’s degree in Humanities, and expanded my studies in Taiwan, where I learned Mahayana Buddhism and Chinese. Later, I volunteered as a teacher in Bangkok before transitioning from monastic life at 31. Now, I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and love for Thai culture with travelers from around the world.
